[Article] Suunto D4 - Freediving and Scuba Computer

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Suunto are sending me one to play with at the next SaltFree meet - anyone who's brave enough to turn up can have a go!

can't wait, I've had pretty much the whole range of Suuntos including a D3, D6 and D9 but my favourite by far for freediving is the Stinger. Will this be any better?

got mine now - it looks fab and seems to have a much better surface display than the D6 or D9

If you want a play - come along to SaltFree next weekend

if you want to win one - enter double dip! We've got one as a prize for the best newbie (thanks SUUNTO!)

How about someone running the test for the rest of us. How long, how much and how often, for a battery?

let me know what you want to know and we'll try and test it next weekend.

no ideas about battery - but I've had my D9 for 2 years and never had to change it so I would expect its similar to that. You can't change the D4 battery yourself though.

You can't change the D4 battery yourself though.
This is an extremely negative point. User-exchangeable battery (or rechargeable accu as at Liquivision X1) is the very first function I looked for when selecting my last diving computer. I know I won't buy any diving watch if I cannot change the battery myself, unless it can keep at least 5-10 years without the change at intensive use. But even if it could keep that long (which is certainly not the case), I would buy another watch where it possible, unless the technical superiority could outweight this big hassle. Thumbs down for this change for Suunto! D4 is off my buying list.
