T-20 Comfy Butt

The leg warmer is next, just kidding

I know most of you are familiar with the T-20, own one, have seen it or used it so what do you think of this as an aftermarket add on? like it?

You need to spend less time drawing butt and more time going out and getting some, pal. :t

ROFL, Sven!

I guess this is the redesign for the lovers of softer butts...
I guess the blue thing is silicone? I don't mind the silicone implants, so I guess this one will be OK too...
Looks good, mate, but I never used the T-20.

As for the wishbones - man, I have stuff even older than the steel ones... But it's a great selection photo! I'd use it if someone asks me about the types of wishbones.

Can you guess what was the price on the black market here of a good set of french articulated wishbones during the 80's? ....~20$.... And that's 80's dollars. And with the price of the dollar on the black market, that was some 1/4 of what my dad was getting at the time... Crazy years!

very nice add on Mark... I use two T-20 handle regullarly and when you don't load the on chest pad they hurts a little... And its impossible to load the guns on the chest for me, how many of you can load 110 gun on the chest :hmm I load them to the first notch on abs then second notch on the chest pad..

I thibk most of the setsuit makers put those things in wrong place, i will apreciate those rubber butt pads, if i even hace a chande to see one here rofl

By the way MARK can you tell me if there is any functionality of the bridge of the new excalibur muzzle or any other particular closed muzzle's bridge??? I am thinking to cut it of to get better sight of aim and nail a pin to use line loop to get the spear in place even better for from up to down shoots..

I load my 120 with twin 18s on my chest Murat.

Its all about technique not brute strength

Anyone use the real heavyduty wire V type wishbones?
I got some in Greece last time I was there they look really well made and strong, plus they are short to give more grunt.

Those wire wishbones are standard stuff on JBL bands, Huan and are very common here for use on the shorter guns. There are horror stories of them cracking and taking off digits, but I've never actually met anyone thats had the experience. There is a very heavy wire-bone available, but to use them you often have to enlarge the slots on the shaft and then there goes the shaft's integrity.

I'm looking forward to bringing down a 110 to FL this year to see what all the hootin and hollerin is about, seeing as how I'm going to call in a literary debt to this guy back East.

shane, i can't reach the bands, is it technique related :hmm ?

I think you are shorter than me how you load 120??? Oh wait your tahiti has dynema wishbone...man thats different story. Can you hold articulated wishbone on one hand and push the butt of the gun with other hand? This technique is very hard if not impossible with articulated wishbones :hmm

Let's just say there was no reason to start drawing bigger butts since we mostly like them firm and shapely just like most nice butts...but here in America we seem to have a lot more bigger BUTTS for extra cushion when loading and firing our guns so I guess we just have to adapt by drawing ours bigger too

Murat- most people don't realize that a gun without the butt is actually as comfortable and a long gun may be easier to load if you remove the butt since you gain an extra 1" or so without it. If you pop the pin out of the T-20 butt or the Exc. butt for that matter you'll see that the curve of the handle fits right on the sternum and wedges itself nicely for loading. They make them removable for the people who prefer the aiming without a butt or don't like it. I load guns just as you described in a two part sequence, first on the abs/weightbelt to the first notch then on the chest to the second where you much more leverage, sometimes both on the abs if the band isn't impossible. The posh rubber addition I showed you will just make it easier when loading two or three bands over and over, especially for the type of spearfisherman that is used to big butts and lot's of rubber

By the way MARK can you tell me if there is any functionality of the bridge of the new excalibur muzzle or any other particular closed muzzle's bridge???

The bridge on the Exc. adds no significant structural strength so basically you can do what you're asking. You can cut it off, and file the edges of the nylon smooth against the band couplings. Then make an easy pin by taking a wishbone shank that uses a threaded nut and bolt and clipping one 1"-1.25"(2-3cm) off clean and strait, file it smooth at the end, then use the threaded end of the shank you just made and insert it in the small hole you must drill in the center of either one of the two band couplings. Thread it in by hand about .5cm so it doesn't hinder screwing the band in. Then remember once you have your pin that, depending on what side of the bands you chose to put the pin, the line crimped from the back of the shaft will have to be running parallel on the same side of the pin. So then the line comes out along the shaft to the pin in the muzzle and curls around it and over the shaft to the other side of the muzzle. It sounds complicated but I know you get the picture and when you do it you'll see what I mean. You've basically achieved an open muzzle gun at this point without the bridge so you can use any shaft and line you want without having to worry about passing it under the bridge. The only problem with this system like any other open muzzle gun is that it requires one more step during loading of the setting of the line to hold the shaft down and on single band guns it's not as fast as just shoving the shaft and line back though the muzzle and into the trigger and loading.

Okay I'm going up for air...

Reactions: Murat

I've done that with articulated wishbone as well as with dyneema ones. Where I dive the water is so very cold that i wear thick gloves and that makes it possible to chest load a long gun with articulated wishbone using that thecnique.
Much easier and less painfull with dyneema ones though.

Murat,
I currently have the heavy wire v's on my tahiti. While I think I am a bit taller than Shane, I think its about the same. I load the standard way but since my accident I am weaker so what I do is place the but, fold myself, grab the BAND (not the bone) with one hand low and pull back just a little to get my second hand on. I then continue loading normally and slot the wire v into the slit. The wire is VERY thick and so it barely fits. I always <only> touch the band, never the bone... (I am paranoid and every other day I see this thread title...) and I can still fit it in... just try pulling back the first few centimeters with one hand.

yes Mark, you just described what i was thinking. Actually i planed that before but only problem is finding those pins and suitable way and tools to do it. I am no good with any king of tool :duh

Is it screw in bands or circular???

I still belive using that technique with articulated wishbone and screw in bands is not easy, at least for me. May be i am missing something somewhere or may be my gloves is not thick enough rofl rofl

I've used that technique with both circular and screw in type rubbers.
Its also possible to grap just one rubber not the wishbone as Anton mentioned, but as I was able to do it without suffering too much by grabbing the wishbone, I didnt bother to try the one rubber technique on that gun.
