Hi there

Just wondering what aspetto and aguatto is/are. I'm not from the mediterranean, but dream of going to Greece and Italy diving all along their coastlines.

Thanks

hmm... in simplest terms, it is where you dive down and hold your breath and hide (usually behind some rocks) until you can get a fish to come close enough to shoot it.

It takes some training to hold your breath long enough to be a good hunter in that style.

I will try to link to a video or two, can't at the mo. sorry.

*edit*
most amazing vids I've ever seen:

You can basically say aspetto is the technique in which you wait at the bottom hiding behind an object to stimulate the teritorial/hunting instincts of a fish. On agguato though you move slowly to setup an ambush. You can always start the technique as agguato and then switch to aspetto if you find a nice spot to wait.

Thanks for the compliments FletchHR

Great vid Memo, interesting to see the colour change on your guns camo as the depth increases.

Can't wait to watch your video FletchHR/Memo . Bunky internet connection atm. It cut out halfway through the download of The Big Blue.:head Can't wait for that either.

Thanks for the clarification guys.

AJ, here's the second part... for when you get your internet working.

Memo, thank you for making these videos, you are an incredible diver/hunter with my deepest respect.

You're fluttering me mate. I just really like filming I hope I can film few more interesting fish before winter kicks in and release the 9th episode.

Both vids are amazing. I'll have to go through the lot I think. Much respect to Memo.
Thanks for the link FletchHR.

Episode 4 is also exceptional, thanks Memo! I appreciate the voice-over explanations.

I really like when we can see you in action from a different camera showing how you move/hide/hunt. More of that would be great.

Maybe it's difficult to find someone that can handle a camera underwater AND hold their breath/dive like you?!

That's a big problem indeed. Recently we are diving as one cameraman and other one as spearo. But the camera we are using is quite massive and we usually take stills with it. I hope we can film some footage like you said
