After assisting at the last Freediving Mini Competition in Bali and before it starts the Freediving Asian Cup in Phillippines, we take the chance to have aninterview with Thibault Guignes who very kindly explains us his experience.
For those who still don’t know him, Thibault is an experienced freediving athlete who has set several freediving records along his career. Only few weeks ago in the mini competition, it is when Thibault achieves the new French National Record at 106 m depth in the discipline of Free Immersion (FIM). Being this one his second National Record for France and one of the seven new records set in this successful event.
Even though it is not the first one, how does it feel to hold the new French National Record in FIM?
It still feels weird for me to hold a record. Of course I am happy and proud about it but is feels unreal as just 4 years ago I was starting freediving and that seemed impossible to reach for me.
How long have you been training for this? Did you do a special physical and mental preparation?
