I'm looking for any input you all may have on the various backplate/BC systems out there. I will be in the market for a BC/BP in the near future and would like to get some feedback on the various options. Mainly

I have narrowed my options to the Halcyon BP/Wing, OMS Comfort Harness BP/Wing, OMS IQ Pack, Dive Rite Transplate/Transpac, and finally the Zeagle Ranger. I know it's not a BP system, but I have heard good things about it.

I live in Hawaii and only dive warm/temperate water, at least for the forseeable future. Presently strictly a recreational diver, but looking to expand my horizons someday.

If anyone has any experience with any of these systems or any reccomendations beyond what I listed above I'd appreciate any input you might have.

Thanks.

-Steve

I've owned the Transpac, Zeagle, and the Halcyon. I would go with the Halcyon out of all those listed.

Thanks.

Any particular Reason? Anything good/bad to say about the others you've dove?

Snuggest fit, least amount of slop, and it also packed the smallest out of any of them- for travel.

I would think that the 27# bladder would be more than enough for what your doing since I wore the same thing in a drysuit with a steel 104', argon bottle, and cansiter light along with a single, aluminum 80, stage bottle.

When you take it apart for trips it pakced smaller than my wife's Zeagle travel BC.

Is it comfortable out of the water? Some of the dives I do require a good hike to the entry.

Hello, everybody. I'm a 'new guy'.This is my first post, I'm not sure I'm in the right place. If not, I'm sorry.

Mostly I read your posts, you know, from "The ususal suspects". Boy, you've got a lot of knowledge to share. Thank You!!!

If I may, does any one know the difference between Apeks's ATX200 and XTX200?

Same for ATX50 and XTX50.

I've owned the Diverite Transpac & the Halcyon system. now I use:

www.deepseasupply.com

for single tank diving I prefer it to both. after killing 2 halcyon pioneer wings I went to something tougher. still using an SS backplate with the basic Hogarthian harness.
