Arghh!! I just came form sports hall.... it is on top of the hill on Exeter Uni campus.. We were there with volleyball team, to play a game, it was the crucial game for our BUSA (British University sports Association) qualifiers, and we had our best team on the field! it all looked good and we started warming up...
About half an hour later I found out that we were missing second referee, and a score keeper! it is the resposibility of home team to provide these two for a game. It turned out that we didin't have these and that would mean that we would have to Forfeit the game to them. Not my idea of sport....But wait there was enough people to play and doing the reffing afterall! Great we would get to play!!!
Then here comes the coach of the opposite team.. It is no good we will not play, you have to Forfeit the game. I was stunned! why don't you play? you have made four hour bus trip to play this game and now that you can why don't you????!!!!
The coach just kept saying that they don't want to play, because the refferee was member of our club and so not qualified to be a second ref... How dissapointing is that??!?!?
Then I thought that if I just asked the players they might want to play against us anyhow, and as I was talking to them the coach tried to come between us?? I told her to go to he**! so I talked to the players of the opposite team, and they told me that they didn't want to risk their game and would rather take the easy win, than play a game and actually see which one of the teams is better.. I was dissapointed but satisfied by their answer, ok if they are afraid to play then go home with your "victory" , but their coach tried to explain that it was all our fault! it was us that didn't let the game happen... I just turned around went to shower.. I hate people like that!! the players were honest, they told that they were afraid that they might lose, and therefore didn't want to play...
Where has the sportsmanship gone? I feel so sad...:waterwork :waterwork :yack
