Hi all! I'm Dave - long time lurker, new poster.
Doing a December Baja camp/dive trip, flying into Cabo on the 17th and out on the 26th. Tentative plan...go to Los Barilles and/or Ribera for 2-3 days, then La Paz for 2-3 days, then over to the pacific side (Todos Santos, Pescadero) to try that area. I'm renting a car, bringing a tent & camping stuff, planning to camp out mostly, hit up RV parks / campgrounds here and there to re-stock water. Maybe get an airbnb for a couple of nights. Planning shore dives with my shoreboard, unless I happen to find a charter or something that I can jump in on - hard to justify a whole charter just for myself.
I've been reading all threads I can find and scouting with Navionics & Google earth. Punta Arena looks really good on the charts, and Ribera & Los Barriles sound great, haven't really found much about La Paz for shore dives, same for Pacific side. Looks like there's some good points/cliffs that would lend themselves to good rock piles, but hard to tell how much there really is.
I've read that the winds can be kinda rough on the sea of cortez side this time of year - figure I'll just roll the dice, and if it looks like the wind's gonna suck, then just head over to the pacific side.
Not really going for anything super big / amazing - if I can find a couple fish to cook for dinner each day, I'll be pretty stoked about it
It would be a ton of fun to go out with someone, or even just meet up and have a drink and talk spearfishing, if anybody is gonna be around & would be game to meet up.
Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated!
happy diving,
dave
