Dear All,

my beachat marlin elite105 came up with a standard band i guess 18mm as read....

i feel the gun lacks power and i have a slot to add another band , ive been trying to understand the band numbers of band mechanism but failing misrable ....

a friend of mine had the same gun and told me about a solid setup of buying a 2 26" 9/16 bands, which i dont really understand what it means and i dont know what type of band to but or best brands.

any tips ? ill be buying online from scubastore.com

What your friend is saying about is buying two one piece rubber slings. The sizes he has given you are old English measurements. 26" is just over 66cm and 9/16 is just over 14mm.

Most people who double band a gun use 2x 16mm rubbers, but remember if you double band a gun you must make sure the spear and the gun can handle it. For double rubbers you want either a 7mm or 7.5mm spear depending on the fish you are hunting, and check that the gun doesn't flex with double rubbers.

If you are buying rubber and building the boom (fitting wishbones yourself) then ideally you want 2x 62/63cm rubbers. If you are buying a ready made boom you will have a choice between a 60/65cm rubber. It is up to you which one you go for, I personally would go for the 65cm option as it will be just that little bit easier to load.

I got this info from the Picasso website
Picasso Quick Boom | Picasso UK

Hope this helps you buddy

thnx man this was very helpfull. . i think ill get ready made bands. . any special brands?

Just make sure they are the right bands. On your gun does the rubber stretch in a loop around the end of the muzzle or do you have two bands that are screwed in?? Also your muzzle must have two holes in the end to be able to double band it.

I think there are loads of brands of rubber. I personally would stick to the big names such as Picasso, rob Allen, Cressi etc as the latex rubber they use is a very reliable high quality with good stretch ratios and quite good wear resistance due to the outer coating on the rubber.

i think ill go with cressi 16mm bands and 65 cm
thnx alot man. . uve been really helpfull

but do you think its gonna have a great effect of the accuracy or the trigger mechanism?

As long as you match the spear to the rubbers being used it shouldn't affect the accuracy. I used to have 2x 16mm bands on my 90cm carbon Rob Allen gun. It was matched with a 7mm spear, it was very long range and very accurate. As your gun looks like its an open muzzle (the line holds the spear in place) accuracy shouldn't be a problem. But like I say you will need a7mm spear that has 2 notches to accommodate the 2 rubbers you are using.

The mechanism should be ok with a double banded setup aswel, beauchat is a very reputable company and would use top of the range mechanisms that will not fail with the power you want to use.

hi I have a beuchat marline elite 90. I have 2x16mm bands. it does have a bit of a kick with 2 bands but still accurate.

i hooked up mine with a 2x16 mm bands and ill be testing on the 30th :D
hopefully ill be getting the strength and accuracy needed ...
ill keep you updated

thnx yall for the help

Honestly I do not think you need more than one good band... Mainly because if your Spear isnt wider than 7mm, the power will just be lost anyways due to friction.
Just use one 19-20mm sling and you'll be good to go.
On the other hand if you really think you lack power you could look into rollers, those things are beasts^^
