I refurbished my swim master and it was easy making the bands because the gun is a JBL clone. My friend has a "aqua sport" that has a 20" barrel and is 31" overall. It doesn't have the old bands so I don't know how long to make the new bands. What is the rule for band length?

Generally if the gun has a band slot... measure from each shaft tab to the middle of the band slot. If the gun has a muzzle with individual band holes, measure from each tab to each band hole.
This is an example...

Then take the measurement (for let's say tab #1) and multiply it by 2.
So if tab one to middle of slot was 20in... 2x20=40in

Take that number and subtract the wishbone length you plan to use.
I use 4in wishbones. So 40in-4in=36in

Now take that last number and divide it by 3.5
Gives you 10.3in

So cut the band 10.3-10.5in.

All of this is very easy to do, and it can save you a lot of money.

Yep, Poly got it right. The only thing I would add is that the answer from that calculation is the distance from knot to knot. So for total rubber length, add 1 inch, or 1.5 inches if you taper the bands.`

But maybe I'm being anal.
