Bangkirai (and oak) timber for speargun?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

Making a new gun, don't have Teak available but plenty of Bangkirai laying about. (Oak also, better option?)

Is it suitable material to use?
 
Any wood will do, as long as the stock will be rigid enough not to bend under load.
Idea with the teak is that it contains natural oils that protect the wood against damaging action of water. So if the water penetrates the teak wood, no big deal.
If using anther type of wood, you should take extra care when painting, for isolating it from the water. But the water will always find a way, no matter what ...
