hi guys i just want to know if its posible cudas have poison? ive heard some stories that they catch cuda and they were poisoned when they ate the fish hope to learn more about it. thnks guy pls feel free to enlighten me :):):)

Ciguatera poisoning can be a real problem. It's caused by eating fish that have eaten fish that have eaten fish that have eaten a toxicgreen algae. The toxic builds up with each fish up the food chain until it reaches the top predator. Even then it is not always a problem until the top predator gets big and accumulates a lot of the toxin. Big barracuda are one of the worst as they are a top reef predator. Bluewater fish are not so much of a problem as they eat less of the algae eating reef fish that start the chain.

hi well i have heart 4 different stories about barracudas
1 don't eat em close to Florida because of the mercury.
2 don't eat the big ones close to the reef because they are specialized hunting and in eating reef fish and they might be specialized in poison's reef fish (to humans).
3 only eat small under arm sized ones close to the reef
4 only eat the big ones if they life in the deep blue.

well i don't take any changes and only eat small ones because if u get sick from eating a bad one u build up an intolerance to eating all species of fish so no more eating fish ever and that would really suck.

thnks for the help guys it deed help me alot is it the green algae on all reefs of the world? ? or it just grow to cold waters ???
