Whats the basics i require to dive and spear in North Wales? which speargun, wetsuit thickness? other essential must have kit?
Any recommendations on where to dive to? is Anglesey any good?

Suggest that you post on the active N. Wales thread: North Wales, The Llyn and Anglesey 2016

And also look around existing threads in the beginner area.

I haven't speared in N. Wales but I'd hazard a guess that a 75cm speargun (i.e. a rubber-band powered speargun with a barrel tube of length 75cm) would be suitable for you. Something in the range 70-90cm is usually recommended for a first speargun for UK - visibility/water clarity being the main concern when choosing. 75cm & 90cm are very common/standard sizes but these days you see all sorts: .../65/70/75/80/85/90/95/... Not sure what the visibility is like in N. Wales -- perhaps the locals/regular visitors can help us out on that - but in the UK it is generally fairly poor, with exceptional areas/days.

Similarly 5mm thickness for a proper spearo wetsuit is the norm for UK waters in general unless you have special needs (e.g. very low body fat, feel the cold more than usual, come from the tropics, plan a lot of winter diving, diving unusually cold water).
