Bass spearing Ireland

Ireland is famous for its bass fishing, espcially the south of Ireland.

But bass spots are hard to find.

Fishermen have a fair bit of info on the matter and there is a great sources of information generally on the site linked below (fishinginireland.info)
This site lists every cove, pier and pinnacle for fishing in ireland and is a must read for any novice spearo.
As you get more advanced and want to explore further and maybe specialise in some bass fishing have a read off this...
Fishing in Ireland. An angler's guide to the best fishing in Ireland.

Read fishing blogs and forums, a lot of info can be gained from them.

Fishmen usually catch bass on the hunt as the tide floods. As the tide floods it covers a wide area in water but as the tide ebbs bass must congregate in smaller holding area's. Find out where the bass hunt then take a few trips to find a holding area...

Here is an example of a great report that will help you track down decent fish.
Southern Ireland Bass Trip June 2011 - World Sea Fishing Forums

Happy hunting. :)

Edit: remember only 2 in a 24hr period and must be over 40cm by law.

In reality try to shoot one over 45cm and also try not to keep killing the big un's. They are big because they are genetically superior to smaller fish that have dies out over the years. The future of bass stocks rely on these 'super breeders' so try to take average sized fish where possible.
