It's early yet, but I'd like to know if there's enough interest in doing another trip. Hopefully with good notice, we can get a decent-sized group out. Also any ideas about other locales or arrangements would be great! ie: maybe we go to Florida and sleep at Jim Doe's house rofl

Count me in Sadiq!

already craving the deep, dark, cold, spooky stuff. although I'm getting used to the feeling of sand between my toes down here....... :p

Colin a sidenote: is there any decent spearing to be had down there in say... January?

I'll sure try :)
Everyone is invited here to glorious northern Michigan, of course, but all you can spear are carp and suckers.

By then I should have a new camera that shoots in raw mode (There is an extremely cool processing technique you can use with raw mode - the pics become almost 3d). TC is good for me - but whatever you guys come up with I will try to make it.

How about a 5-6 day liveabord trip through the Tahsis inlet?

Some of the best dive sites in the world, plus sea otters, orca, grey whales, seals and sea lions. Warm water (relative to Telegraph).

That would be rather awesome!
I recently got final cut pro and by then maybe I'll have figured it out. It would be great fun to put together a full on DVD of the trip.

YES!! Plus the pickins were slim these year due to the closures on the east side of the island.

You guys know I am down for anything. I just can't blow an $800 a day budget restriction.

(Colin is my bitch!)

:)

OMG Jim - I just flashed back on that dinner....rofl
the delivery was priceless - and the waitress's not quite blank smile...

I maybe able to attend but its to early to tell. :)

This could be fun. Our life is calming down a little more here. Bri and I would of course do our damndest to attend. Perhaps we can get some media into this thread to give people a sense of the incredible environment we dive in (& warn them of the very off-the-wall spearos they'd be forced to endure - wait a sec... Colin's latest caption photo already does this ;) )

I find it very easy to see the potential for great media to come out of the Canadian West Coast diving environment. It's a challenge - dark, cool, creepy... but also extremely rewarding. Any idea on a time frame?

My Coworker here has done TV production, editing etc. So anything we come back with we could build into a pretty nice DVD - I've got Final Cut pro - by then I might even know how to use it!

"down There" meaning Telegraph Cove? or Florida?

I would Contact Jimmy D for the latter, I am still a newb down here

Tashis? Liveaboard? I remember some amazing tales I read about that place. What's the water temp?

Connor

Not sure about tahsis - TC was 47-50f - awesome if you can make it! I hope to.

has anyone heard from Lindsay post-trip? he took some fantastic pics, would really love a copy of them.

I will make it for sure. Do you want to keep the dates the same? I think it is a good time of year.

I like the idea of Tahsis inlet, though I see a few downsides to the liveaboard.

-can't make our own feast every night with the catch of the day
-if people have to drop out at the last minute, things get complicated
-most operators are not spearfish friendly

Colin, I have tried contacting Lindsey about the photos, but I haven't heard back from him.
