Hey everyone,

I've been MIA on this forum for a long time. Sorry about that. Spaghetti sent me a PM the other week...curious whether I took some offense and gave up on deeperblue. I assure you all, that I have not. I would say that I've been too busy, but why start out this thread with lies. :naughty The truth is that my browser stopped updating RRS feeds for deeperblue, so I had to actually type out the whole name of the site in order to check it out. And as one of the lazy Americans on this forum d....e....e....p...e...r...b.zzzzz....was just way too long to type. :t But seriously, I just got lazy. I have been posting on another spearing forum but mostly debating political bs....I find posting there was taking up more of my time because there are some REAL WHACKJOBS there and I was mounting a vain attempt to bring sanity to otherwise insane people. Needless to say, they're all still crazy, and the only thing that has changed is that I've gotten more frustrated.:head

So, since I've been away for so long, I figured I should start out by filling you all in on what's been going on in my life.

Since I've last posted I've finished law school (3 years of hell) and awoke to find that there was a whole wide world out there that I had been missing out on. :) So after law school, I took the bar exam, took the mpre exam, passed both, and was recently sworn in as a lawyer. I figured there are so few lawyers in the world, and people like them so much, that it becoming a lawyer really made sense. :confused: --> as you can tell, law school has really messed with my grasp on reality.

So after passing the bar I got a very nice job working as a law clerk here in Rhode Island....it's really a sweet gig and I'm lucky to have it, especially with the way the economy is over here. So, with my massive 7 figure salary...okay 6 figure salary....alright alright....with my very modest 5 figure salary, I bought my first home. I'm currently in the process of painting, stripping 1980s vintage wallpaper, and learning through trial and error, how to perform carpentry projects. Been burning the candle on both ends with home renovations till 11-12 at night and the work day starting at 6am. When I was in college I pulled 2 all nighters in a row once, and 3 in one week. :blackeye Now (at the ripe age of 26), I get less than 8 hours of sleep and I'm oscar the grouch for the rest of the day...complaining about how sore and tired I am. :crutch I hope

Also on the not so distant horizon, is an engagement to my girlfriend of 4.5 years. But ssshhh, she doesn't know. Although, the odds of her finding this site are extremely low (unless it ends up on people.com for some reason) so I'm not worried about spilling the beans to you folks.

In aquatic news, I have done far far too little spearing recently. I only got out about 4 or 5 times this year (pathetic considering I live in a state that has just about as much oceanfront as it does dry land). But I'm hoping that with law school over and the bar exam finished, I'll have the opportunity to get into the water more often in the upcoming year.

Anyway, that's about it. I'd like to extend a public thank you to Spago for getting me off my butt and posting on deeperblue again. Hope you have all been treating each other nice in my absence :inlove, but I'm sure you have.

Happy you're back: an attorney in the family may always help ;-)

In short:

1) Now that you're turned adult with a degree, a job and home of your own, next step is: find a partner, get married and make babies like hot cakes. That's the correct pattern in a man's life.

2) About your recently scarce spearing activity: perfect training to get you familiar with the above (office, wife, kids et cetera).

3) You are forgiven for posting on SB POL/REL. The political and religious debates between spearfishers on there are real FUN and I confess they're my new addiction.
There is one going on these days about the Christian God being the only real God, so that different religions other than Christian are not really about God because only our God is God. OH MY GOD! rofl

#1 --> partner = :chatupcheck --> married & babies = aahhh, working on it....but no rush. :)

#3 --> If the Christian God is the only God, then only the Christian's would know that he is the only real God....because only the real God could tell them that...and only they speak to the only real God. So the other Religions can't know that they aren't speaking to the real God because the real god only speaks to Christians and only he could tell them that he is the only Real God. So you see, it makes perfect logical sense that only the Christians know that their God is the only real God...so you have to just take their word for it. Unless, by some odd twist of fate, the Christian God, Jewish God, and Muslim God were in fact....the same God. But what are the odds of that? :) Merry Christmas spago.

Alex, just don't abandon the other forum altogether. When I get so frustrated that I can't even respond to ocean 314, its good to have you stepping in.
