Hi there, there are two books you might enjoy:

[ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manual-Freediving-Underwater-Single-Breath/dp/1928649270/ref=sr_1_1/203-4602319-6256749?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1191129902&sr=1-1]Amazon.co.uk: Manual Of Freediving: Underwater On A Single Breath (Freediving): Books: Umberto Pelizzari,Stefano Tovaglieri[/ame]

and

One Breath, A Reflection on Freediving

There is a quite wide choice, especially if you are not limited to English only. I have 100 freediving books listed in the Freediving Media Base, among them over 40 that are manuals or guides in some way, partially or entirely. The rest of the 100 books are diverse fiction, medical, history, photo or cartoon books, but some of them may be quite interesting for a beginner (or an advanced freediver too): books training @ APNEA.cz

Let us not forget to clearly mention the all time classic by Jacques Mayol : "Homo Delphinus - The Dolphin within Man", which while definetely not a manual or 'how-to' type of book, remains IMHO a central piece in any freediver's library. Should be easier to get these days than it had been for a long time, as the book has been re-printed recently. Its style and rhetoric itself might raise a few eyebrows at the same time beingy thought provoking, as well as full of beautiful, inspiring large format photographs. Highly recommended.

Thanks, already ordered both
-Manual of freediving: Underwater on a single breath

and

-Homo Delphinus - The Dolphin within Man

Would't be able to contribute much Mr. X since I don't know any books on spearfishing :hungover
