Hey, i recenty got into spear fishing and i need some tips on how to stay under longer, how to stalk the fish and bring the fish in. I currently use a polespear and i freedive, no tank.

I would really appreciate the help... Thanx

Hi Jahrulz. Yes, most spear on snorkel & a breath hold. For breath hold technique and tips, the competitive freedivers have all kinds of techniques, jargon, training and tables - so checkout their area for beginner information and beyond. For hunting technique, saspearo started one of the best threads (IMHO) some years ago and it still wakes up from time to time. There are several other good ones though, some quite recent, have a browse and try out the forum's search functionality. Member Spaghetti has made some definitive posts on Italian spearing techniques and their names (aspetto, etc.) and others on noises they use to attract fish (I usually try to keep as quiet as possible & hide in the weed/shadows). Also check out the 3 excellent articles/threads on "Spearfishing for Dummies" by Miles - they will save you time and money.

with a pole spear i would recommend poking around holes and such you might find some ono (delicious) treats some times you can dive right over the fish and shoot it from above i have had luck with this technique in the past i spend two years with a pole spear before i got to start using a gun. i think that using a pole spear makes you a much better spearo
best of luck
