you are a kind, generous, warm hearted, SUCKER"

Wise words from my sister-in-law.

and so i am ... we have been forced to adopt this poor cat. She has a skew head (run over as a kitten), very big ears, meows constantly (well less now after we have nurtured her for nearly a month) and she has been in a big cat fight... i am not a cat person but hell! After having to potty train the thing and give her several hidings for messing up my polished floors.. it's worth enjoying your efforts. I never thought I'd meet a cat who acts like a dog (following you around the house, lying on it's back waiting for a scratch and putting its paws on the side of the bath when you are attempting to bathe)??

note the skew whiff head.

Anyone else got a weird pet they'd like to share?

I had a cat once, you wanna be careful with cats, you never know what kind of trouble they;ll get you into!

lovely! come hang around our neighbourhood for a bit and see if all those disgusting strays will disappear... one of them poohed in my house the other day :yack

We've adopted 2 cats here in Cyprus too - brother and sister. And they think they're dogs as well! They play with small bouncy balls and carry them to the top of the stairs, let them go, then fetch them, and the game starts again! Pain in the butt at 2 in the morning.....

They also carry socks (clean I might add) around the house so we're forever losing socks too. Very amusing to watch though..

cute! why is that cat's like empty toilet roll cartons? (have you tried that one)?

Not so much a stray, but I 'adopted' a cat from a coworker that gave her up for whatever reason. Originally she was rescued from a pipe behind my work, thus the name 'Piper'. When I got her about 2 years ago she was a big boned but slight cat. Now she's just plain obese. :hmm Cute though...

A couple of cruel jokes to play on cats that I hate to admit are fairly funny when seen executed correctly:

The commando:

Get a piece of masking tape, or something you can remove without pulling hair out, and stretch a single piece from his forhead the end of his tail (like a skunk stripe). Most cats will sense they are under something trying to fall or sit on them. They will do the army crawl everywhere frantically like they're trying to infiltrate razor wire.

Happy Feet:

Also a good trick with masking tape or other low-stick tape...put a little strip of them on each foot, and they will try to shake it off. I can't explain what it looks like, but it's kind of like if your cat was doing the can-can.

Demolition Derby:

Put a sock over your cats head. Most won't know to pull it off with their feet like a dog would....so they just haul ass backwards everywhere in big circles....like a demolition derby car.

Disclaimer: In no way do I promote any real harm to cats, such as physical pain or endangerment. Just enough to remind them that they aren't as smooth as they think they are. heh-heh. It also helps to have a cat that doesn't hold a grudge. Like Sand's, our family cat is just a really vain dog.

As for my pet?

I like a less finicky creature that shares the same sleeping hours, as I typically do during days off (3:00am to 12:00pm).

Oh, low maintanance is key, as well. I also require a self-grooming pet, doesn't need help getting to the counter when I want to share some people food. Hmm, let's see....I require an intellegent pet...clever enough to hide when the landlord knocks on the door...respond to its name when called, etc., etc....

Behold, the Prudence

The perfect seafarer's pet, posing appropriately on Rattan furniture, of course.

rofl Those are hysterical! I happen to have another cat in addition to Piper that might be suitable for these tricks. She's cute, but acts kind of dumb sometimes (i.e, chases her tail a LOT, and tends to smack herself into walls/doors, etc.). We call her the Jessica Simpson of cats... :duh

lol!

my cat does the can-can thing just by getting her feet wet.. it's too hiliarious...

do you guys bathe your cats? i do a once a month thing, and someone else told me a once a week thing.

Sinky your cat tourture stuff is cool i will try them out on the neighbours cat as soon as i can catch it.
I had a cat as a child but we were poor so we had to eat it (tasted like chicken.)
My little boy came home from school yesterday wanting a pet Cat, the local cat shelter had been there trying to give them away so my wife had to explain to him that Dady dosent like cats and would try to feed it to the Dogs( 2 x staffy/kelpy crosses ) so he gave up on that idea quick enough.
Dont get my wrong cats are make great Hats Errrr Pets but they kill our native animals and most people just let them out at night with no bells on to do just that.
Sorry but you can keep your cats give me a Dog any day

i prefer dogs too but what to do? i couldnt' throw it out on the street... there are enough strays on the street as it is.. and just wait til i catch that one that sh@t in my house... he is going to be the first to test my new Marseillaise weight belt with a few weights on it...

i wonder how long cats can hold their breath??

Hi Island Sands
Adopting a stray cat was a good thing to do, God knows i adopted a few stray pussyies when i was younger I allways used to lick them till they were clean (well that the way they do it isnt it).
A cat can hold its breath till about 20 meters and then there fail at constant weight

I take it that your cat either has no claws or you have a ballistic flak jacket and a full fencing kit stashed away somewhere, not to mention a kevlar flak helmet (See the instructions for giving a cat a bath below). The ONLY time I ever tried to give a cat a bath it was like trying to bath a 110 vAC buzz saw plugged into a 440vAC circuit.... nothing but claws and teeth. It actually climbed a tile wall by sticking its claws into the grout between the tiles.....

Ahhhhh! Here we are. I knew I had the Instructions for Giving The Cat A Bath around here somewhere..... rofl

We also were adopted by a stray but the previous owners had him declawed (illegal in Germany so he came from somewhere else) and neutered so, at some point, someone somewhere loved him.... When we got adopted by him, he was so desparate that he chased us down the sidewalk although we had our two 30 kg dogs with us (Let no one say a neutered cat has no doo-dads!)! Since the dogs were raised with a cat, they thought it was pretty cool to play with.... The cat is not so sure but is finally getting used to being sniffed and licked..... :p

The little bugger is, however, "Persona Non Cat-a" in the bedroonm after having peed on the bed twice to show his displeasure that we went on vacation - both times on MY side of the bed..... :vangry

Ear wax!!!!

Trust me, its wrong but my mate did it to our cat and it went mad for it.

Wet the end of your finger, stick it in yor ear and then put it under the cats nose. Its like cat nip rofl . it is so funny. Wendy nearly bit my finger off the other day. the wife hates me doing it.

Being adopted by a stray cat is a sign that you haven't showered since your last spearfishing session!

I suppose that would explain all the bums that hang around outside my office when I haven't showered away the wafting aroma of vodka, then, eh?
