It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
get a new one mate, maybe straighten it to be used as a spare one, but then again it all depends on the degree of damage i guess..

Should you try to straighten or just get new one:crutch

Hey I was just curious, do you hunt freshwater around Vegas, or do you travel? If it's around Vegas, I'd be interested to hear about the hunting.
Thanks,
Ron.

Hey Ron I have never took my gun in lake mead have jumped in with a 3 prong poked 1 fish seen plenty carp but was never sure about the fish/dive Regs, talked to diver from Vegas met through forums he said he goe's alot at the lake he said all you need is license and dive flag have not hooked up yet Just came back from Big Island poked uhu's ,how's Lake Tahoe?

:crutch

Tahoe's an awsome place to freshwater dive, with clear vis, awsome rock formations, and really deep drop offs. Spearfishing is illegal there though, and you wouldn't even want to be seen near that lake with a speargun, but if you like diving for crawdads, it's a real blast.
Ron.

I think the only fish in mead you can shoot is carp. I think all other species is restricted.

I was trying to check DFG, but there regs link is down for some reason.

GUYS, I have just received an OMER CAYMAN 90, the spear is a little bent. If I put the spear on a straight edge, the "stomach" is about 7mm out, and dead center. IE. the bend is very slight and smoothly centered. I have complained to SCUBASTORE and they are responding very positivly, but I am so far from Spain that shipping etc is going to be a royal PITA.

Could I hand straighten? What would be the effect on accuracy using as it is.

Thanks

PD: my Seac Asso with short 8MM shafts never has this problem...

Thanks for all the advice on my bent shaft I appreciate the help from all of you pro divers looks like I won't waste time on straightening shaft, just get me a new one. I didn't know there were divers in all states and countries thats how much I know. What kind of fish do you divers spear. safe diving to all:t :head

There is a guy in the LA area, Masahiro Mori, who does a great job of straightening shafts, and Steve Alexander in Orange County also does it well. But by the time you paid $35 or so, depending on how much work it needed, and then paid for postage each way, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

A shaft that is bent just the slightest bit will cause big problems with accuracy, and I doubt most people have the skill to straighten one properly. I know I don't, and I watched Mori do it.

Terry Maas's great book, Blue Water Hunting and Freediving, describes Steve Alexander's method.
