Thought I would ask before purchase anybody have recomendation for a cheap easy to use heart monitor that can be used for running and swimming many thanks Rob

Depends on what you want. Short interval heart rate in a waterproof monitor is expensive so far as I know. Otherwise, the cheapest Polar seems to work fine, unless you are diving more than 30 m. Mine has been deeper than its rated depth on several occasions. The long sample period in cheap monitors, around 10 sec, means you don't see how low your heart rate really goes.

I have a Polar Electro which cost me around $120NZD. It handles running and swimming fine and is small and light with only one button to worry about. The sample rate is about 3 seconds. I haven't taken it below about 4 metres but it has handled the water well in both ocean and pool.

It says on the back that it is "Water Resistant 50M"

3 seconds is much better than mine, better depth range too. I will see if that one is available here, thanks

Connor
