Would appreciate any help or advice on best spearfishing locations/companies for this January....

I want to go spearfishing for a week and want to also get some sun (20 plus degrees). I'm a beginner/intermediate that can go to 20 metres.

I live in the UK and don't want to go east across the Atlantic due to jet leg coming home. Most Pacific Islands also seem to have their rainy season in Jan, so the idea of a week of hot rain doesn't appeal.

On my list of possibilities are....

Cape Verde
Canaries
South Africa
Bali/Indonesia
Thailand

Don't want to travel as far as Australia for just a week. Any of the above or other recommendations on locations would be greatly appreciated.

Any guides/spearo company recommendations also welcomed.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

All options that you mentioned are known for good fish. I would suggest just picking one that you would also like to visit (not only for spearfishing) and get to local spearfishing resources, facebook groups etc.

Cape Verde can be (is) very windy & the fishing is well out of port, boats are small but fish are abundant,
Tuna, wahoo, jacks & sharks.
I don't think you will get the most exciting fishing in the Canaries but I don't really know.
Defiantly big fish (& sharks) in South Africa, look up Miles on this forum.
Indo .. is it monsoon at that time of year?

Thanks. Back to Cape Town I've decided.
