Best piece of advice?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
it is time..

say 2-4-6 could be (.. 4seconds to fill your lungs, then eight seconds to hold and 12 seconds to breathe out)
the numbers 2-4-6 represent the time you use to breathe in or hold your breath in relation. do you see what I mean?

Well it halped me greatly, correct me if the pattern is somehow off, anyone who might know better. It was some time ago I started using it for my diving.

hope this helps

Pekka:p

...advice....

Being a newbie, I'm a bit hesitant to say I've heard all the advice yet....still on the learning curve!
That being said, I think the best piece so far has been to find the local tours of the beach diving sites here in San Diego County sponsored by the SDCD: It's called the 3R's Tour. The 3 Rs stand for Rocks, Rips, and Reefs.
The San Diego Lifeguards do a lecture and in-water tour of a good variety of the beach dive sites.
The idea is to help local and visiting divers to learn how to recognize and handle safely the entries, exits, and hazards of each venue.

--This came to mind after reading the story about another fatality at Monastery Beach.

Dive safe; know your beaches and your limits.

one of the best pieces of advice I was given as a newbie was to have your hands on your lower belly while you breath up and visualise the air moving in and out all the way down to your hands

now I would advise everyone to
DIVE WITH PEOPLE YOU LIKE!
and
DON'T DIVE WITH YOUR LOVER!

don't know why it just always seems to result in arguments...

: )

Doesn't the prior rule take care of the latter? :D.

...whatwhatwhat????!!!!!
this is clear as MUD!!!
--Haven't heard this one before!!!
----Please explain!

Just being a wiseA$$, ocean. Plainly stated, if you follow the "Dive with people you like" rule, then you needn't bother following the "Don't dive with your lover" rule................... because I was alluding to the idea, that many people, in fact, don't particularly like their lovers  .

.....getting cynical in my old age, aren't I?

Best piece of advice

The more I strive to succeed in freediving (competitions, personal bests, ...) the harder it seems to get.
Jump to cjborgerts post in the same forum (Beginner freediving) on a more recent thread: Beginner who doesnt know where to start. In the second paragraph of his post You will really find the best piece of advice. Just a few illustrations to back it up:

1. the more You try falling asleep the less it happens.
2. "seek the kingdom of heaven first and its righteousness and all these things will be added unto You" - ie seek the joy in freediving, appreciate the beauty of the marine environment, encourage and help others to achieve their goals, and watch what happens ...

Have safe and pleasant dives
Gerald
