Best way to attach gun to float line?

Hi all - how do you all attach your gun to your float lines?

I"ve seen people using clip swivels in videos but can't seem to find any of a suitable size online. Clips designed for fishing seem too small and the ones in the chandlers are massive overkill. Any pointers on this?

I spoke to Anthony at the spearfishingstore.co.uk who suggested one on the Apnea.co.uk website that's the same as those used on bungees. But I don't fancy paying nearly £8.00 (by the time you add in postage) for something that still looks a bit small.

I'm very new to spearfishing so any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I use the small size tuna clip with swivel. See photo. It's strong and easy to use - even under water.

Thanks Jegwan, looks like the kind of think I'm after. Have googled 'tuna clip' and they seem pretty popular with divers so I think I'll give the local dive shop a ring.

I use a loop of pvc tube through the eye on the gun and then juct clip the floatline with one of these:

Cheers for the link Jonny250. No problems with twisting from not having a swivel? Think I might go with your option as I can't seem to find tuna clips in a UK mainland webshop.

no i dont get problems with twisting, but every once in a while i hang my floatline up in the garden to let it 'relax' it. i use 6mm pvc tube line.

Sounds good, I guess you'd never notice a few turns either way on 5m of tube. A loop and clip it is then!

I use one of these. An S-biner. I have a small cord loop on my gun handle and a loop on the end of my float line.

Looks like a quality piece of kit there ReefTroll! Haven't seen them over here before. I've gone for Jonny250's solution - cheap and simple! Seems to be working great for me

Nice s -biner there ReefTroll I've not seen that type either has any one had clip un hook ?How they come undone is a mystery to me. But the last time was at night and it was a Big surprise to find float and line gone in the pitch black out of my hand from gun handle .I'm in to tieing things on now and clipping them! I'm trying to find some twist gate small crabs (carabeanas).that don't salt up to quick.

try doing a google image search for stainless maillon (maillon rapide to be correct) in oval or D

what I use with a bit of silicon grease once or twice a year. They DON'T come undone even just nipped finger tight.....and if you find yourself hanging off a cliff by your buoy line they will hold you

The s-biner is small, and I had it lying around from my mining days, where it never dropped a piece of gear so knew it'd cope well with spearing duties.

Nice looking S-biner. You can find it on Amazon. They are rated to loads between 1-100 lbs depending on the size. The small ones are not rated very high.
