Hi all,

I am trying to compare these two watches, everyone on the net says the F10 but nobody says why not the Beuchat... They are both made by the same manufacturer, they are both specifically made for Freediving. I don't scuba dive so no need for those functions, I only spearfish, I don't train or freedive, both can be hooked up to a PC. I heard both watches had issues with their first versions but those were resolved. They are about the same price, I have a heard time seeing what the difference is in between the two, except for the light:

- on the Aeris it is on the side
- on the Beuchat the whole screen flashes, which I quite like since this is more visible than the little light on the Aeris.

Am I missing something? Anyone tried both? Any other differences?

Thanks,
Gabriel

Most folks I know get Aeries if they don't have a budget for Suunto D4. Don't know anyone with a Beuchat (love the brand though - have 2 guns and fins made by them)
Here is a good comparator http://apnea.cz/computers.html

Thanks. I like having several depth alarms which the D4i does not have and it activates at 0.6m which is great for freediving but not so great for spearfishing. The thing that scares me a bit about Aeris is that they have no dealers close to me so if I have an issue I am in a bad position. Beuchat have a dealer 40min. away from me and Suunto about an hour away, not close but feasable... I have sent Aeris several emails, through their site form and through my email client and I have not received anything from them for two weeks now, it doesn't exactly give me confidence...

Ah, it is up again! It has been down for a while, thanks for the heads up.

I don't really understand how activation of depth meter at 0.5 meter could be an issue and why. I spearfish with my D3 and I don't look at the watch anyhow, not until I have made several fin movements on my way to the bottom anyway.

Because my armni longer than 0.6m and it will activate when I am not diving. This means some alarms will prematurely go off max dive time for example.

Thank you for explaning. Didn't realize that. I am 182 cm tall - never had such an issue.

Ok, many people have written about this though. I had a look at a Suunto watch (I forgot which, one that has depth, etc but no alarms, not really a dive watch) and it specified it went into water mode once it reaches 0.6m but only activates the depth guage, etc once it reaches 1.2m. I did not see this in the D4i manual, but maybe it is the same and not specified? If so that could explain why you don't have the issue.

Maybe, it's the case. I know quite a few spearos who use Suuntos. None of them have told me the diving mode activates too early.

I have f10 I can't find someone selling the strap cause mine have crack it not shown on their web site also if there is a spare part
