I was "unfortunately" recommended by someone on this forum to buy shafts for my Cyrano from: http://www.spearo.co.uk/spearo.htm

And unfortunately, those people appear to be professional crooks and I do not advise anyone to purchase anything, on-line from their site.

It's been a month since I placed my order for a couple of lousy shafts and never received them.
I tried emailing the owners a couple of times….first they would say they are using a reliable courier but slow and now they don't even respond anymore.

It's a shame to have these crooks who can spoil the few sites dealing with spearfishing.

If anyone knows of a more reputable site that sells shafts for Mares Cyrano 970...I would be greatful.

Ihab,
sounds strange, dave is normally well regarded as a reputable person, sorry to hear about that. anyway i am attaching a link for Subprof, they are in spain and i bought from them many times, they are very good, sometimes the order could take a while if it is not in stock..they sell cyrano shafts, i am attaching the link below
cheers ;)

Many Thanks Marwan,

I will place an order for the shafts through your link as I've managed to bend the original spears (2) that came with the gun, which by the way are poor quality...contrary to the quality of the gun itself.

I have never had any problems ordering from this site, I am very surprised at your comments. Dave is not a crook, I have known him for some years.

As ever there are 2 sides to every story..............
I am not one for washing dirty linen in public, but I will just say that the spears were posted, but appear not to have arrived so far. I am trying to track them, but have been told by the post office that delivery to Egypt can take up to 56 days.
Accusing someone of being a thief in public is really not helpful to either side
cheers

What a load of Rubbish I have used Dave several times and found him very helpful and on time.
If the man says it will be up to 56 days and if he said that he posted them then you can take it that he has.
Keep up the good work Dave.
May be a motto how about "honest Dave friend of the spearo"

Okay, Crooks maybe overstated in time of frustration due to lack of reply……….. but definitely unprofessional to say the least.

I can’t believe it takes 56 to Egypt….a lot of crap considering I order products from all 5 continents.
2 weeks maximum for ordinary mail from the UK to Egypt.

About who ever is expressing sympathy, let me know your true feelings when you place an order, pay for it, wait for 1 month, nothing arrives …………….then no one answers you…..I would like to see your sympathy then…specially when you miss out on a hunting trip because of this delay…specially if you had prepared for it for some time.

Regards.

I had a similar experience with Special Fins, got the fin after about 3 months. Joys of living in the Middle East I'm afraid. as soon as anything is more than small bubble envelope size they seem to take too much interest and it delays... (especially with the things I've been buyin') rofl

Come on Ihab, give Dave a break, perhaps edit your post a little or as i believe what you said is "out there" so maybe an apology...

I can sympathise with anyone who experiences problems such as yours but there are different ways you can go about expressing your frustrations. The problem with inserting the word "crook" into the title of a thread about a retailer is potentially very threatening to that persons future livelihood especially as DeeperBlue is so widely read. Here in the UK we do not have many people selling spearfishing/freediving equipment and we must support them as best we can. Dave is professional, I'm sure your problem will be resolved. I wish you happy hunting in the future.

Ihab, this is the wrong way.
Dave is a valuable member of the community, and it's sure he wouldn't risk his reputation for a pair of shafts. Unfortunately, shipping overseas goes smooth sometimes, but not always. Not your fault, not his fault.

Last june I sold a speargun to a forum member, the courier promised a 4 days delivery, but then it actually took a month: meanwhile the guy had to go on his longtime planned trip without the speargun. Last month I sent two spearguns to another member: well the parcel returned to me yesterday for "invalid mail adress". In both cases I lost my face, but I can honestly say it was not my fault. And I really hope not to be insulted in public for that.

PS: where are the moderators?

Nothing but praise, respect and thanks for Daves service over the years. I think this is the wrong place to be throwing accusations around, and if anything, you should be jumping to shoot down the international postal services rather than downtalking one of very few UK stores dedicated to spearfishing on a hugely popular site. :rcard

Huw.

I already mentioned that using the word Crooks was overstated…....I hope everyone understands this…….but still I don not believe it is professional not to answer your client’s emails except when you are forced to defend yourself in front of everyone else in a Forum.

Maybe the delay is no ones fault …. But there are certain responsibilities that come with owning a business…………as I do………….and the customer is always right….specially if they paid their dues and it’s up to us to deliver.

In many cases, we would refund or extend discounts on future orders to compensate for screw-ups beyond our control……at least that’s the way we run business over here & ironically, we export to the UK and cater to several sport nutrition brands.

Hope this came through to sympathizers as well as to the wise.

Actually - i've been monitoring this thread closely (in fact I notified Dave as soon as it was posted).

If Dave wants it gone it will be - however I believe this thread is actually doing a lot more good for spearo than harm. One post complaining followed by numerous others praising Spearo - I truly believe that is actually of great help rather than harm.

It's not about doing good or bad........it's about doing business right.

I don't care how many clients Dave served well, loosing any client is failure and must be addressed.....we don't have to shut people up when they have a problem with a well known supplier....it's only fair everyone gets his money's worth of service.....unless you see otherwise.

A simple email from Dave replying to this mishap would have solved a lot.....but to leave things in the open after receiving money is not quite ethical....don't you agree.

I will not comment anymore on this subject, ............I don't want to start anything.....just expressing my surprise and regret for the lack of response from a guy like Dave.....you figure it out.

Dave did reply, see above. Perhaps you two should sort it out in private :)

No Dave did not reply except once...otherwsie we won't be having this mess.
When I say reply, I mean to my own private emails...not to this forum.

I don’t own a business but I do run a fairly successful one here in the UK and in my experience within my trade is that the customer comes to you because there are nearly always wrong, were as I get paid to be nearly always right.
And I can tell you that the right thing to do here is give Dave a bit of slack and I’m sure he will sort it out.

Oh Spaniard I wish she would turn around as well may be we should offer her money. But only to help with the new business costs of course.rofl
