The BFA Summer Outdoor Pool Competition

Saturday 28th of June 2008 at the Brockwell Lido in South London.
Brockwell Lido

This will be the first time that the British Pool Championships have been held outdoors in the UK. There will be two elements counting to each athlete's total score: Static Apnea and a Dynamic Apnea in which the entrants can decide to compete with or without fins.

A weighting will be applied to the scores for those competing without fins. The event will be an AIDA World Ranking competition with the chance to set Personal Bests, new National Records or compete for the Best Newcomer Award (any participant not currently holding an AIDA ranking). All levels of freediver are welcome but you must have a current fit to dive medical signed by a doctor and be current member of the BFA or other AIDA National.

For further info and entry forms British Freediving Association - Competitions: 2008: BFA Pool Competition

sorry but I'm not going to be able to make this one - just trying to fit too much into one life at the moment

have fun folks

I'll come and do a few widths Mr Monkey.

I'll get my entry form done soon.

It will be good to catch up with everyone again. See you at Salt Free Sam :)

The following may be of use to people travelling to the event.
The pool is actually 27.4m X 50.5m. We will run the dynamic across the deep part of the pool that is a 27.4m lane. The 50.5m lane is too shallow at one end to turn in.
Brockwell Lido is in Herne Hill, south east London close to Brixton. The address is Brockwell Park, Dulwich Road, London, SE24 0PA. There is a rail station at Herne Hill which is a 5 minute walk from the pool. The rail station is 9 minutes from Victoria. There is also a Tube station at Brixton and buses 3,37, 196, 468, 68, 322, & 201 stop outside the pool. Go to Home | Transport for London for a full listing of public transport.
Local accommodation? Try this link Hotels near Herne Hill Train - All In London for hotels near to the pool.
There is also a campsite at Crystal Palace Crystal Palace Caravan Club Site , Crystal Palace Campsite review
What I need now is actual entries so come on people get your fingers out, stop talking about doing the paper work and start filling it in and posting it :)

FYI I am about to give you two sentences that are classed as two of the three most used lies in the world, but in my case this time round they are true.

1) The cheque is in the post
2) Ill phone you tomorrow (about the RA stuff for you)

Just got back from the pool. It looks inviting and the temp has gone up yo 21c so you'll be fine in your speedos if you are from upt North like apneaboy. For the more evolved a wet suit is a must.
Athletes plus 1 personal coach and Organisers need to let the reception staff know that they are attending the event to gain entry. They will then receive their official badge at registration. All others will have to pay 5.20GBP to enter. A check will be made after registration and any one without an official badge or an entry ticket will be in trouble! I say this as the BFA will be charged for these individuals.
If you have a friend that wants to help out let me know in advance and I will arrange a badge.
Spectators are welcome but will have to pay the standard 5.20GBP entry fee.
