Bifins with a big angle

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Well, the Effesub Whalebones did not hold long time. It was the third times I've put them on my feet, and I ruptured a footpocket during normal training. Just for reference - I am no beast, and normally keep fins for decades without damage.

Some photos here:

I knew Effesub went belly up in the meantime (that's why I could buy them so cheap), so was afraid of complications with the reclamation. To my surprise, after I've sent the photos to the online store owner, he called me back, offering free replacement with another brand of my choice. So I am hesitating between the Omer Stingray mentioned here above, Mares Razor, and the Sporasub Revolution (there I'd have to pay some extra, since they are in quite a different category). Well, I am tempted for the Revolutions, but did not decide yet.

Trux, have you read my post in the "best fins ever thread", haven't you?
My say is: be a REAL MAN and go for the Revolutions!

(but then you'll HAVE TO post a detailed review for us)

Just because I saw you post, I am hesitating - I was not sure if you'd not call me a pussy if I chose them. Finally they look too comfortable for real men.

Trux I'd never call you a pussy. Anyway, back to serious talking, word is that the Sporasub Revolution are mostly designed as spearfishing fins.

Remember what Mark Laboccetta, the Sporasub importer for North America, had to say about:
"these fins are designed for spearfishing primarily, you're skulling and moving sideways sometimes and in my experience you loose traction with full length rails. you won't see Kirk Krack wearing the revolution any time soon for what he does and teaches.
You have to compromise on the designs based on the discipline they're intended for, I found the Revolution works best with a completely different fin stroke, short kicks that don't work the thighs as much as a conventional freediving fin, diagonal ascents and descents and mid-water movents, typical of the movements done spearfishing.

Yes, I am aware of it. As for the side rails - I can always add some myself. And my style in dynamics is rather unorthodox for a bi-finner. I kick short, then glide, add a breast stroke, glide again, kick short, glide, up and then even put a dolphin kick in between, so I believe the fins could work well for that style. I am just little bit afraid of the drag caused by the relatively clumsy shoes. I do not understand why Sporasub chose to rise the toe tip upward as at running shoes, increasing so the drag significantly. Instead of it the tip could have been bent toward the blade, the foot forms in that shape naturally anyway when straightened, and the drag would be much lower.

Trux,
How about the new Esclapez fins? They ahve full length side rails and appear to have a pretty good angle.

Spaghetti - Be careful with such "hurtful" comments. Many of us know that we only need one speargun-Rob Allen, and all the rest are for lesser beings. The choice of excellent fins, however, is for those of us who seek the finer details of ultimate propulsion. ; o

Well, I am too much of a gadget-man. That's why, in first place, I created my virtual Collection of Weird Fins. Currently I own physically only some of them (and the Whalebones were ones of them), so may well try the Sporasub Revolutions. I am pretty sure they will be as worthless as practically all those other weird fins, but I cannot help myself not to give them a try
