my friend got these they day after i left home to miami. This was in progresso mexico. it is very fished out (specially grouper and snapper) b/c there are no laws or enforcers of them. and ppl use nets alot. but we still managed to do pretty good.

the fish were mostly taken in 40-50ft. we also got several spanish macks. hogs, snapper, triggers, and groupers.

makes wish permit werent illegal to spear in Florida... Beautiful fish, good trip!

they are very excellent as table fare. They have a very light meat . My friend ate some permit sushi but i wasn't there to try. He said that was good too.

did you get yours with a single band gun and what setup where you using?

i was using an omer T20carbon 110cm with two bands for the bigger permit and one band on the other one (but with a stainless shaft which is lighter as opposed to my springsteel shaft which i usually use when i'm going for larger fish or shooting around rocks.)

I had the cheap omer reel on there which served the purpose but is a little slow at recovering line.
