Pig was shot in the North of West Australia up around Newman
Weighed in at 512kg (1126lb)

so could be a .30-06 or a .308. love aussie hunters. nice, simple, efficient calibers. guys over here would be ranting and raving that only a huge cannon would do the job on that big pig

just looking at all that pork makes me hungry

For that bad boy it would have to be Oldsarge and his .375 H+H Mag with a 285Grain Jacketed soft point (may be a grand slam) and loaded with 86 grains of Hodgdon 4831SC powder.
That would make his eyes water!

The 350 Grain bullet would be better in a .416 Rem Mag with 82 grains of vit N540 giving you 2636 fps at the muzzle.

if you try to fire that 350gr (it's a .458) bullet out of a .416 bad things would happen i prefer the rigby to the Rem, lower preasures, and a lot more class. 400gr @ 2400fps :inlove

My .450 consumes 53.5gr of RL7 to get 2150fps. (i'm a handloader too) more then enough for anything on this continent, it has stopped a couple very grumpy bears so far

never been a big fan of speer. tend to stick to Hornady and Nosler. trying out some 225gr Innerbonds in my .338-06 A-Sq on moose this fall. hoping they perform, as the load is shooting .6moa consistant. and keeps 2000ft.lbs out to 300yrds.

Never played with a .338-06 sounds good though.
Anything like the .338 lapua mag now that’s a nice round.

.338-06 is a .30-06 necked up to .338 cal. getting 2677fps avg. with 225gr. and 2539fps avg. with 250gr. using H4350. balistically identical to a .30-06 with 180gr, but hits a whole lot harder.

Sounds really good I’ll have to see if I can find somebody with one so I can have a try.
Your dead right about the .338 I love it, gives a good hard smack so you know you fired it.
