i just got home from being in the city for 2 days to find my whole street covered in trees and confused people. apparantly we had wind speeds of up to 200km/h and hail size of tennis balls. i grabbed the camera and hand pruners and went exploring. to find a shed on its side and huge trees fallen down and taking out powerlines blocking peoples doors and driveways. i know its nothing big compared to some storms in the world but storms like these are rare in this part of the country. the old people down the road said its the worst in 65yrs. just thought u's might like to have a look at some piccies i got.

this is the shed

and again...

and again...

this is the tree that was in the cemetry and just missed the highway

going down the highway...

cemetary fence

this is a fallen tree that was hit by lightning and jumped the highway and took down powerlines...

the fallen powerlines...

and thats it. pretty amazing damage for a little town. i bet the insurance people are gonna be pissed :p

Sara,

I'm viewing fine w/ Firefox (Mozilla derivative). What ver. are you using?

http://wetsand.com has some great surf / weather tools. You can also find great weather info on declassified military satellites, and on NOAA.com. Of course the weather will still come, but at least, with accurate info, preparations can be made.

Be safe!

Rogert, as Joe123 stated, there have been some deaths resulting- Washington state is south of BC province: same storm system. Many people without power and services for a while.

aw thats sad. how long have these people been out of power and services?

most people around here lost it thursday night. I got mine back saturday night at 1130 while sitting infront of the fire:) .

sadly, many people are having to go to shelters just to stay warm. some people are just sitting next to there gas stoves to stay alive. and a considerable amount of people arnt expected to get power for atleast another 3 days.
