Hi,

We know that a freediver loses conscienceness when he blackouts, but
  • what are the visible symptoms besides being numb?
  • does the body gets rigid first and then relaxed?
  • is the jaw contrated immediately or only some time after or already contrated?
  • what is the time between each phase?
For what i know there are 2 moments and 2 phases during a blackout in the following sequence:
  • Moment 1: Losing Conscience -> rigid body, contrated jaw
  • Phase 1: Body Protection -> rigid body, contrated jaw
  • Moment 2: Breathing Reflex -> relaxed body, relaxed jaw
  • Phase 2: Conscienceness and Breath Recovery -> relaxed body, relaxed jaw
Is there other moments/phases or other significant observable symptoms?

Goodives,

JC

how does a samba and shaking related symptons fit into this chain of problems

in my quite limited experience, you only feel sambas when you are conscious. I have never BOed after a Samba (that I can recall)

BO's are more "Do Not Pass Go or Collect $200..Go Straight to Jail..."
