Does depth have anything to do with shallow water blackout? Can it occur at any depth? or If I dont exceed a certain depth will I be imune to SWB? I rarely dive below 30 ft. and have always hyperventilated not knowing that SWB existed.

Thanks Kindly, Brad

Hey Brad, welcome to our not-so-humble abode away from our normal abode ...

SWB has got nothing to do with depth. It can happen just plain breath holding on the surface of a pool. Here's two great articles to have a look at - they explain the ups and downs of Samba's and SWB very well.

Samba and Blackout

Shallow Water Blackout

be careful , especially if you 're young and dynamic personn, it doesn't help for freedivinf&spearfishing.
When i was 16, i had a blackout in a pool in a hotel , the pool was 1 m depth!!
I was trying to make 75 m without fins ( i thought it was as easy as with fins'help) and 3 mn hyperventilation! bad idea:naughty
result : half of my lung full of water and hospital
When it's spearfish. under 10m, I was used to have static apnea for 3 mn and It was more unsafe than my short apnea at 25 m.
