Hi,
Recently I had an experience with bleutec Oceanborn speargun. Gun was equipped with original shaft Bleu tec 8 mm Diamond with 3 shark fins. But muzzle was very under-weighted and balance is very far from being perfect. Loaded gun in water actually floats on the surface in upright position (90 degree vertically with 30-40 cm muzzle above the surface). There is nothing about fixing balance on the Bleutec site, and I couldn't find any information in the internet. May be some one can help and provide information how to add weights to a muzzle and balance the gun?

Thanks a lot.

Drill a hole in the barrel.... it won't float then! (no matter what angle) :ROFLMAO:(y)
Maybe try an contact the manufacturer? Is the handle brightly coloured, that way say you drop your gun out the back of the boat, you can find it cause the handle is sticking out of the water:bookworm:?
1 tip... don't void the warranty, especially if they come back to you like 2 months later saying there was a fault in your product.

Dive safe,
Rock Shooter

Stick on weights sound like your best bet!

I've never owned an Oceanborne, but its hard to believe that a gun that expensive is that screwed up. Stick-on weights should not be required. My Abbelan floats with the shaft in and I like it that way, but it has compartments in the handle and behind the muzzle where I can move lead shot back and forth until the balance is just as I like it. And if I wanted to, I could add shot to both compartments so that it sank.

I have a friend who dives with guys who own the Oceanborne guns and has borrowed them. I just sent him a text message to see what he knows.

My friend got back to me. He has used a few of them and never seen one like that. He said that these guns are made in a tiny little mom and pop shop in Greece, and he's just guessing that the guy had to take a phone call in the middle of making a gun and then forgot to ballast it. Of course that's just a guess, but the gun shouldn't be that way. You should contact the shop where you bought it and ask for a replacement.

Thanks a lot for all replies. I have bought it second hand, and probably will use sticky weights.

I, like bill find it hard to believe that a hand made gun would have to sticky weights stuck on the thing!
I hope you can find a better way to sort this out....
