have just got back from a dive with a mate. on day two felt like i had heart burn and became weasy in the chest when i coughed specks of blood appeared. It is the second time i have had this happen and iv been diving for about 12 months. Im 21 fit healthy stay WELL within my limits and usually dont dive any deeper than 30 ft. I dont know why its happened but if any ideas let me know

it's likely lung squeeze. Depending on how you dive, it's is possible to get a squeeze even at shallow depths, in particular if you dive half or empty lungs. There 's a load of good stuff here on lung squeeze and what you can do to avoid it, though as i learnt some of us may be predisposed to it others are more lucky, they never get it...

Mmmm..my french spearfishing buddy in Gib, has had the same thing..however, it was mucus mixed with some blood (due to some compensating problems and a mild cold), coming from his sinuses, he would wake up in the morning coughing up a bit of blood aswell, but it did not come from his lungs.
(he did visit a doctor)

Hi mad mat,

Normally, lung squeeze should not occur in that depth with full lungs, but odd things can happen. "scott" has been having similar trouble in 40-60. PM him and compare notes. He might be slow answering.
