Sorry? Can you spell that again sir?

There has been a new proposal to change the name of Durban to KwaKhangela as well as 75 other suburbs and townships and 78 rivers in the eThekwini Municipal area. (umm.. SurfnSpear, where is that?)

This is apart from the 100 new name changes to be instituted by the eThekwini Municipality which was taken back to the drawing board on Friday at the Masakhane Grants-in-Aid, Non-Discrimination rofl and Non-Sexism Committee, which has been overseeing Durban's name change process. It had received 700 proposals from the public.

It has also been proposed that Umhlanga Rocks be changed to uMhlanga Rocks, Amanzimtoti be changed to aManzimtoti, Inchanga to eNtshangwe, Isipingo to eSiphingo, Mshazi to KwaMshazi, Shongweni to eNtshongweni and Umlazi to eMlazi. (WHY???)

This is going to cost millions of rand... and there are still millions of poor Africans based in squatter camps all over the country, and there is "no money" to relocate them or assist them.

On a more alarming note, a DURBAN surfskier was mauled by a shark last weekend and the shark-fishing contest in DURBAN has been put on hold...

My thoughts exactly, these places has been called by these names since pre apartheid times so claiming that as the reason is absurd. Surely there is better ways to spend the money that they supposedly dont have in the housing and education budgets...
Put name changes aside and spend the money where it will be able to actually do good and not just cause confusion :naughty
