It's been in the papers and on the tele that some fan of lord of the Rings went out and made a film which is a prequel to LOR. Only cost £25,000 which is less than Peter Jacksons carries in his pocket in loose change. The film is free on You Tube apparently.

So I went and found it and watched it and bloody good it was too. Had to down grade the resolution from 720 to 480 but appart from that it was 10/10 :).

Here it is Watch Film

Thanks for this, Dave, I enjoyed watching the film and was really impressed by the production.
I went to see the 1st of the Jackson trilogy at the cinema and was quite overwhelmed with nostalgia: certain scenes described exactly what I'd imagined when reading Tolkien during my youth.
Of course, everyone knows that Tolkien's prequel to LOTR is 'The Hobbit' - but what a great idea to set up this project and describe hunky Lord Aragorn's lineage. And aren't those Elves charismatic?

I agree. The hobbit must be out soon, as Peter Jackson has been filming it. I was impressed by the elves. I thought they were better, well more elvish anyway, than in the actual LOR films. Do you think they were twins?

A line from Alan bennett's brilliant new play The Habit of Art -
W.H. Auden , on hearing that his fellow Oxford don , J.R.R. Tolkien , has finished a new book :-
" Just what the world needs , more f*@king elves . "

I think Jackson's first film , Bad Taste , cost even less than £25000 to make , it's pretty good too .

This film is a good stab for a first time , low budget affair , I hope they do well from it and go on to bigger things .
