Hey guys -

So, without water or the ability to put my never-wet cressi mask, snorkel, and fins to use, I'm trying to improve my breath-hold time. I've never been very good with static apnea - I have terrible sinuses, bad endurance, and I'm small. All that said - am I deterred? Nope.

Now, being fair I haven't had much experience with appropriate hyperventilation, breath ups, or cool offs. I just kind of take a deep breath and go with it. After a very minimal amount of training I've made some progress. I started, maybe a few weeks ago, at about 50 seconds. Right now without much effort I can hit about 1:30.

I've been using two different apps, iHoldBreath and Apnea Trainer. My target time, for static, is 3:00 right now, but I'm not sure what's reasonable for a newbie (at 32 years old).

Anyone have experience with a real progression? I mean, someone who's not a natural freak and can hold off the top for like 3 minutes? What's a good time to gun for?

Thanks,
-LaS

Look at my thread Beginner Thoughts. Good input from members on the forum as well.

I started from barley pulling 60 sec holds while on my couch to 3.5min statics and 60second dynamics
