I caught a big AmberJack 35.5kgs.. with a 35lhippo float. This ripped my gun off me' now im looking setting a breakaway rig up. any one know of any sites to view how to set this up

Here is my method. Size the shooting line so that the loop in the end is a few inches from the line release. Stretch a loop of bungee cord from the shooting line over the line release. Attach the clip from the float line to the loop in the shooting line (not the loop of bungee cord).

Try searching this forum as Tuna-spearing guru Miles posted details of his home-made system a couple of years ago and it looked about as simple as it could get. (I think Bill's rig is similar but perhaps looks different due to the different-style of speargun - Miles tended to use SA railguns.)

It is even simpler that Rob Allen's rather neat, simple kit - which I believe consists of metal ring, some rubber tube & possible a stainless steel line -release hook.
