question regarding breath hold. Im scouting round google checking breath hold records and 9/10 minutes is pretty much tops. Then i find a dutch stunt type guy thats done 21 minutes in a clear tank infront of a crowd!!! Can anyone tell me a) if he is still alive or got permanent brain damage or b) if its a complete con.

There are apnea breath-hold records made under strict conditions, and with no use of oxygen (10'12" by Tom Sietas, at this moment), there are Guinness records made with the use of oxygen (I believe around 18' also by Tom Sietas, if it did not change lately), there are unofficial oxygen breath-holds (several of them over 20' reported), and then there are illusionist stunts, which are just tricks, usually using hidden air or oxygen supply.

Interesting and thankyou for the info. Basically static apnea is the real deal then. I have some working to do on my hold.
