Briere bi-fins anyone?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
OK I gotta bump this thread. It's getting warmer and i need to buy some fins!!
Tell me, do these compare at all to the ones made by waterway?? Because that's the more likely option as they have a dealer here in Canada..

OK screw it LOL obviously the only fins around here are :sebak, cressi, sporasub, and omer (and the occasional WW)?? :hmm

Brianna, the first link isnt working at least for me. Have you check out the Gara 3000? I am ordering a pair tomorrow from (http://www.austinsdiving.com/), they seem to be a great compromise between value and performance.

My husband has a pair of Garas and i'm not really keen on them. Actually, the deed is done, and i have a pair of sporasub footpockets on the way, soon to be followed by Waterway blades, #2 stiffness. We'll see how they feel, I was actually curious as to the similarity (if any) of the materials Briere uses to the materials WW uses. www.finswimming.ca

Brianna,
One link doesn't wrok, and since the other is in french, it doesn't work either (for me). I am using SpacialFins medium blue water blades in Sporasub pockets. I like my Picasso pockets better, but the blades don't stay put.
Going to fiberglass is a lot better choice for cold water than plastic. the new blades don't get stiffer as the water gets colder. makes a real difference up here in spring (3C/38F in April). Even Sporasub standard blades stiffen up quite a bit.
My vote goes to glass blades, like Waterway/specialFin.

it basically says "in 13 hardnessess and designs"
I wasn't too keen on the footpockets, but you have to admit, Breier makes a sexy looking fin! I have a friend in France who knows Breier and would have gotten them for me, but for the lack of feedback, I couldn't make up my mind whether I wanted to take the risk on something "new". Most of the lifeguards use Waterway here for the finswimming involved in Lifeguard competitions, and there was plenty of feedback available which was how I decided, ultimately, to get the WWs. I am satisfied, I do like the fibreplastic blades, the yellow for visibility, the fact that they were shipped from Toronto etc..

Eric Breier makes very nice blades (bi and mono), but unfortunately the footpockets are terrible. My wife has a beautifu carbon monofin from Breier, but doesn't use it because teh footpockets are useless and absorb all the power. I'm going to get some decent footpockets put on it for her.

I use Breier blades that I set into Sporasub foot pockets. I've been using these for 18 months without problem, and they're good down to 56 metres. They match my trunks too, which is great for the safety divers when I do dynamics

Awww now I wish this had been replied to sooner! :head Ah well. So you say the blades go into the sporasubs fp's no prob? Can you compare to waterway?

No, I haven't used Waterway bi-fins. As for getting the blades into the pockets, that was a nightmare. It took me hours with a big tube of Silkaflex....main problem is that the blades are flat and the footpockets are angled. I did it in the end, but I was covered in black silkaflex, which took weeks to wash off.

Never again. Next time I'll find someone else to fit them.
