Building a head-first sledge

For dives to 50-60 meters I am building this sledge: Sledge 2011-03-15 | Facebook

It's build of aluminium with a Lewmar rope clutch for brake. I plan to build a small container to the side where the ballon can be put during descent.

That looks very compact and easy to transport Eric.

Does the lift bring up the base plate too?

Nope but if you want that it's probably easiest to temporarily attach a lanyard between the bottom of the sledge and the base plate/weight/below the tennis balls.
