Bungee floatline to speargun

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I bought an 8mm, 10m long silicon bungee from ebay, it supposedly stretches to 60m... Used the hoover trick to pull through a thread then pulled back through 25m of 1.5mm dyneema. Tied them to the biggest barrel swivels I could find then stretched it out and secured it with constrictor knots, this actually was sufficient to keep it sealed. Took it out last week and it was great, floats like a turd in the swimming baths, no tangles, absolutely none! stretches smoothly during a dive then returns to 10m on the surface.
I've added some silicon sealant and heat shrink tubing at either end now to be doubly safe and tidy it up. Cost under £30 to make plus an hours time, can upload a photo of it if you like or send you the links to what I bought.
All the best on your trip!

Duncan

Nice! I ended up ordering the Immersion 10m. A bit more expensive but I spoke with someone that have tried it and is very satisfied. Haven't gotten it in the mail yet, but for my own curiosity it would be cool to see a picture of how you made yours. And for maybe later floats.
Thank you, I look forward to the trip. I live in Norway and started spearing a couple of years ago, this being my second real trip. This year going to Loften in Norway, really excited to get there.

Cool that sounds like a great trip! I think you'll really like your bungee, its great not getting any tangles.
I didn't take any photos of the making it but here is it finished. The swivels on mine are the weakest link, rated at 60kg, but thats fine for me, no finish even near half that size where i dive.
