Buy The World's Deepest Sea Cave For $24 Million

Dean's blue hole on sale?
The world's deepest hole is on the market for a whopping $24 million, a relative bargain considering the surrounding 180-acre property could be zoned for a major resort or vacation home complex.

The cave, a record 663 feet deep, was declared one of the "top 77 natural wonders of the world."

Pricey Pads notes that the undeveloped beachfront property on the Bahamas' Long Island, known as Blue Hole Bay, is not far from homes owned by Johnny Depp, David Copperfield, Tyler Perry, and Bernard Arnault.

Hi Vedrana - is this for real? I am guessing if it is, it's for the land surrounding it or does it actually include dean's blue hole too? In most countries the coastline cannot be bought but maybe the Bahamas are different..
I'm sure Will should know if he sees this...

Maybe William have some new info about this!!!

It's been for sale for a long time..
If it was sold the owner wouldn't own the blue hole, just the surrounding property. Public access is ensured, and Dean's Blue Hole is in the process of becoming a 'national monument' by the Bahamas National Trust.

Good news Will, phew :)

Maybe if eveyone from DB chips in we can buy it lol

Let's make the amount each has to pay proportional to each person's income and collect a bit every month and then elect someone to negotiate the deal. And then employ a good chunk of the people paying to build something there and maintain it. And maybe arm a few to protect it.

Welcome to the republic of DB :)

Cool! the Republic of Deeperblue, the first state originated by people with a shared passion for water and Freediving :)

With trees, fruit gardens and the like it could become a freedivers' oasis, permaculture farming, animals, research, hotel, retreat.

Who 'owns' the place btw?

I'm guessing on paper it's government property but in practice, Will owns it lol

Papa smurf should sent Will a DB flag so Will can claim it for the DB nation :)
Maybe Herbert Nitch wants to plant the flag at the - 205m depth bottom solidifying the claim?

Sorry will can't help you with that many:) but 10 or so I can do? Just need the other 9,979 and we're in business!

Will there be cake and will it be delivered to me by oh lets say Island Sands:chatup? And how about beer:friday? Nobody has mentioned beer yet??
If I can have beer and cake at this new Deeper Blue utopia then I’m in.:):)
I’ll be no bother as I’ll be more than happy flopping about in the top 10 or 20 meters so Captain Will and the rest of you depth junkies can carry on and enjoy the hole.:):):)

I've been monitoring this stripe of land, since it was listed at 10 million USD (no, I never have that kinda money either).

To be absolutely serious, what is the financial potential for that region, if seriously considering the construction of a resort? Pardon me, but I fear that freediving activities alone would not pass that bill. I could see vast shortcomings in the location of the island, what with transportation logistics (plus I don't know if Bahamas has a cyclone season), unless Long Island is already very much alive with tourist activities. What money making activities (no drug running, please ...) could make such a resort turn into fiscal black on a yearly basis? Scuba, fishing, etc. Will?

I can't help but dream about turning Long Island into the Mecca of freediving, with the big kicker being that hole. Not necessarily a goldmine, but to support this wonderful acitivity of ours. If that's possible, all we gotta do is get Luc Besson or James Cameron in on the deal, and we're all set. Hell, Cameron could have his very own underwater studio in that hole, if he wanted to.
