Hi buddies, I am thinking of buying a new speargun for my next trip. Main targets are king mackarels and if some luck comes to me never mind shooting a sailfish. I was thinking of a 130cm ( maybe a good length between clear and murcky waters) with a 7mm diam shaft (or 7.5mm ??) and 2 x 16mm diam bands. I was thinking of an aluminium Rob Allen gun.Long Carbon guns tend to be very light thus giving alott of recoil. I already have a 110cm RA carbon one. Its very good but I hate its handle cause its breacks my chest when loading. Many times it slipped down my abdomen hurting my belly button :) .Rob why you dont make a chest rest like many other guns have ???? It devides the pressure and pain from the bands on your chest on 2 points. Also i hate its open muzzel, althoughe offering a good line of sight, the line from the rear of the shaft towards the muzzel stays around 8mm above the spear thus making alott of vibration when moving the gun horizontally... Again Rob please lower the edge of the muzzel by 1 cm where the line is held to stay as close as possible to the shaft !!!!!

So please buddies do anyone of you who is more experienced then me in the open water spearfishing have any suggestions on different brands please.???

Thanks very much

I can't help. I'm happy with my RA aluminum collection (90x6.5, 100x6.5, 110x7, 130x7)

A 130 is a good size but if your a short guy it may be difficult to load with tight bands, technique comes into play big time. Not all carbon guns kick, the trick is ballasting in the correct locations on the guns
