Hi

I choosing a fin for a friend of mind and he is between the C4/30 and the Omer Rekord III, have any one use both of them. How do they stack against each other. The C4/30 are little cheaper here in US they cost 350 the Rekord III are 420. The main thing is the rekord III stiffer or softer then the C4/30 both with Omer Pockets.

WOW!!!! Funny you should ask this very question!

We did a small comparison between these exact two fins yesterday while out on the boat with Martin Stepanek (Martin was not one of the testers though).

The bottom line is the C4 30 Falcons are a bit stiffer of a blade and narrower. The tester actually decided to convert from his Record III fins to the C4 30 Falcons for two reasons. First, he like the additional stiffness of the Falcon and felt more comfortable at depth. Second, he has weak ankles that made his kick cycle a little sloppy and there was noticable sculling (the fins slipping sidways) with his Record III fins that was drastically reduced when using the Falcon fins.

Each fin is excellent and has it's distinct performance parameters. It really depends on the diver's abilities and diving environment.

.................by the way, if you aren't buying your gear from me you are probably paying too much!!!

:)

There's been a gap of some 4 years between the two for me so I can't give a detailed comparison as Jim's. When I used the Falcon 30's I was a 35 meters diver and they gave a great snap from such deep bottoms, but I found them a bit rocky in surface swimming. The rekord performed slighlty softer than I expected but I did 20+ meters with them and the response was very good, along with comfortable surface swimming. Up to you.

Thanks Spaghetti

I've bought the C4/30, since my friend thinks the special fins blue water is too soft for him. You would say the Rekord III will like a C4/25.
