Hiya
I've got a 115cm C4. Did a review on it when i bought it.
The C4 Monoscocca isn’t just a gun, it a work of art. It’s an exceptionally well built gun with very good accuracy. It is touted as the BEST euro-gun you can get.
The complete gun is made of carbon fiber and epoxy resin composite. This valuable material, used in its full extension in the MONOSCOCCA unique structure, totally worked by hand by highly qualified personnel and polymerized at 120° C for 8 atm of pressure, allows the construction of a hollow structure achieving different functions and so technically definable as MONOSCOCCA. This gun, without any evident bending and without any trace of assembly imprecision or wobbles, achieves therefore an outstanding precision in the shot
The carbon structure thus realized is totally inert, does not need any maintenance, it’s stable in time and does not show any dimensional alteration.
In the MONOSCOCCA, the conceptual project of shape and function is developed to its purest essence so to obtain a modern object of industrial design, ennobled by the intelligent use of valuable technological materials as carbon fibre and titanium
Technically speaking, the MONOSCOCCA is an object of low quantity of available energy. It’s not possible to increase the energy as a diver would like. The average person cannot charge a single rubber over 60 kg. The consequence is that the only way to increase the performances is to reduce the energy losses every mechanical object inevitably has while functioning. To achieve maximum shot performances, apart from the exceptional stiffness of its unique structure, the MONOSCOCCA has been deliberately built without shaft guide and with the bands in the muzzle perfectly lined up to the shaft. These technical solutions totally remove the unwanted frictions due to the progress of the shaft in the shaft guide.
Moreover, cancels the strong hydrodynamic friction due to the circular bands producing a significant drag effect moving perpendicularly in the water and working not in a straight line with the shaft movement.
With our muzzle’s technical solution it’s furthermore totally avoided the rubbing of the bands into the barrel and its consequent braking effect on the shaft velocity. The result is that MONOSCOCCA disperses a very low quantity of energy and this produces, bands and shaft being equal, a shot very straight, fast and without equal.
The project of this speargun started from the fundamental consideration that the most important thing in a good speargun is its capacity of an easy and accurate aiming to the target. This is an essential condition: if the speargun is not aligned with the fish all its other qualities will achieve nothing. Fish is usually moving and MONOSCOCCA particular shape allows an exceptionally fast and accurate alignment.
The hand position relatively to the shaft has been intentionally lowered to only 9 mm, about half of a traditional speargun: this allows a fast, instinctive and accurate aim with a reduced rotating up effect due to the gun recoil because the fulcrum effect thus working is only half compared to others traditional guns.
The triggering mechanism is in AISI 316 steel and titanium and it has been planned in a position about 70 mm more toward the muzzle than in other traditional gun handles. This solution reduces the distance between the hand and the muzzle without modification of the operative lengths. MONOSCOCCA 100, really long 103,5 cm and developed with this system has a length between handle and muzzle like a 96 cm gun, with a maneuverability improved by the narrowest of the barrel sections but with a shot of a full 103,5 cm because it’s NOT changed the distance between the muzzle and the notches in the shaft.
One of the best features of the MONOSCOCCA is its easy of use. There’s no need to become used to it, the excellent ergonomics due to the particular shape of the titanium trigger (produced with numeric control machines) and the position of its rotation axis, together with the handle shape, calculated together to fit the hand profile, builds a whole, allowing everyone to attain immediately optimum results. There’re not awkward times used to adapt oneself to the speargun, sure indication of poor ergonomics.
The sturdiness and precision obtained by the numeric control machines in the triggering mechanism is such that the release of shaft is very smooth. The triggering mechanism has a spring working on the shaft attachment system particularly tough. This prevents an unintentional shaft release obtaining a good safety of use without affecting in whatever way the release in the water under the pull of the bands
Out of the water, the shaft release operation can be obtained only pulling the shaft very straight, gently lifting it. An attempt in removing the shaft out of the water comes upon stiffness and resistance by this very precise mechanism. In working conditions, in the water, under the perfectly linear pull of the bands, the shaft is released by the mechanism with very low friction and as a result very smoothly
The peculiar shape of the barrel, a little swelled up around a third of the length, creates an hydrodynamic barycentre around which rotates the MONOSCOCCA movement. This shape is different for each speargun length so to better adapt to their specific use. The MONOSCOCCA very thin final section, about 20 mm in height, sensibly increases the capability of moving the gun underwater in every direction, with light and accurate movement. Despite this, the total mass is one of biggest in the speargun market: the 115 weight is actually 1300 g
The muzzle is very tiny and extremely sturdy, it’s built in precious titanium, shaped with numeric control machines, it’s of only 6 mm of thickness and it weights a mere 16 g. It has two threaded 14x1 holes where to screw the elastic bands. This solution allows the owner to find in the market bands of almost any kind of diameter and composition. It’s so possible to search for the best ballistic characteristics needed for the desired kind of fishing
To ease the loading of the speargun, only in the MONOSCOCCA 115 and 130, there’s a little sealed hole in the muzzle, about 15 cm before the first shaft notch, where to insert a removable pin. The pin is in effect a 6x35 mm screw, easily and cheaply found everywhere. The charging of the speargun in this way is easy: the diver inserts the pin, stretches the bands until their insertion to the pin, lifts the gun rear extension to the sternum without moving the hands and finishes the charging until the desired notch. He then takes off the pin and the speargun is ready to fire.
MONOSCOCCA is equipped with a 50 m reel, rotating on a heavy steel AISI 316 pin mounted with a thread (M10) into the barrel. It has a friction working with a spring for avoiding the tying up of the line. The reel is removed unscrewing the pin from the barrel.
MONOSCOCCA is sold without bands and shaft and it’s thus not balanced. Optimal equilibrium is achieved when, with the gun charged, the spear tip drops slightly (with a velocity of 4/5 cm/sec). A little weight of few grams toward the barrel end will achieve a balance suitable for the chosen bands, shaft and flops.
MONOSCOCCA is provided with an automatic line release upon firing. The muzzle is open, so for firing with the gun upside down it’s needed a double length of the line that, encircling the muzzle and the shaft together, holds the latter down in its proper position
The handle is covered with a rubber antislip texture designed to offer excellent stability and alignment of the speargun.
The MONOSCOCCA is covered with a two years guarantee, like all other products under Italian law following the directions of the European Community.
