I have a c4 carbon speargun in 75cm and the mono shooting keep braking after just one day of use.i use the last hole of the spear and the line brakes at the corner of the spear.my qestion is can i use the other hole to rig the speargun instead of the end one?

Hiya

Alik, what often happens is that when the spear manufacturer drills the hole at the end of the spear, they don't polish it up properly. This leaves some rough edges and this is what is cutting your shooting line. Simply POLISH the hole, so that there are no rough edges. This will eliminate the mono cutting problems. My picasso gun had the SAME problem, until i polished the hole at the end of the spear. No more problems!!:D:D

Are you using single wrap or double wrap? This might also contribute to line snapping.

..............................you are stiill talking about the spear, .......right???

:thankyou

Hiya

If the spear has a second hole, then you can use it!! Sometimes spears have two holes, one in front of the notches and the second at the end of the spear. The theory is that the notches are weak points on the spear, so when targeting very large fish, one could then use the hole in front of the notches to attach the shooting line. In reality, i've seen 8mm spears break in HALF, and not by the notches, so either hole will work. On longer guns, having the crimp so close to the notches, in the first hole, could impede loading your gun.

hey alik!!
i have no answer to your question, but i do have one of my own, how is the 75 c4? i was thinking of getting one& i would like to hear your opinion...
thanks mate!

Yes the second hole should be fine. But one problem is when you shoot a fish, and it rides up the mono, it's then quite tricky to feed the spear back through the fish. Like miles said if the hole edges a sharp they can work through the mono. In some rare cases the trigger mech can wear the mono too.

on the subject of the two holes I might add that his majesty the king of sweden is also rumored to prefer the second hole. "Tvåan" we call it in sweden.
