Hi folks,

Even though some sites listed the Urukay as available in 90cm, the C4 factory did not finish the carbon mold for this size until very recently. Only the 105cm and the 120cm sizes were available until now.

Today, I just read a post in one of the Italian forum announcing that the "Urukino" will be available to dealers soon.

Here are the photos:

Hi guys,

I just read on the same Italian forum a reply from Marco Bonfanti, owner of C4, annoucing that starting on April 30 of next year the Urukay line will have a temporary price reduction of 15%.

Unfortunately for me, this promotion will only apply to Italy. I have a Urukay 105 that I am very happy with and am looking to buy a 120 eventually.

Cheers,
Claudio

Thanks for the heads up cloudio , the 120 is a Beast
if you ever move to cali it will be perfect for are Big white seabass

Joe

Hi Joe,

I'll be getting the 120 especially for those big white seabasses :). How's your wood gun build going? Did you complete the the build already?

Best,
Claudio

Hi Mundial,

I would not say the Urukay 90 is a waste of money at all. The gun is build for a very specific purpose: to target large prey (10 kilos and above) at low visibility.

The Randall Ergo 85 looks very nice, but being a single band gun using 6.5mm shafts, it is at a different league and is more comparable with a Mr. Carbon 85.

The stated dimensions of the Urukay models can be a bit misleading. They have more range than the single or double band guns of similar sizes. For instance, I would choose for my Urukay 105 over any other double band euro gun of in the 120cm size range.

My Urukay 105 is set up with a 150cm long 8mm shaft and three 16mm bands. With this setup the gun is ideal for 4.5 to 5 meters shots at large prey. The Urukay 90 should be very effective around the 3.5 to 4 meters range.

Cheers,
Claudio

funny

i can give a lot of exm"s
one friend of mine took an amberjack 49.6K
with a beuchat 115 1 band i6.5 spear
i am using a 95 self built wood gun 2 X 16 bands
good for me all around
but the stracture of this gun ( big volume )
will be very unusefull to low viz & manoverabillity
strong yes & very expansive also
this is my point of view

a carbon RA will be a good cjoise also

I never said that large fish could not be landed with single banded guns and have heard countless of people landing all kinds of monster fish, pelagic or otherwise, with small single band guns.

A few friends of mine from Rio de Janeiro comes to mind. They consistently land monsters using exclusively euro guns with 7mm shafts and a 20mm single bands. Obviously skills, shot placement, and luck play a crucial factor in successfully landing these fishes.

A gun like the Urukay 90 will give you an edge in that it increases the chances for a mortal shot on a larger (thicker fish) and from a greater distance than other guns of comparable size.

That being said, it is a very expensive gun and just like you don't need a Rolex to see the time, you don't need a C4 to land fish. In my case, I really like the feel of the handle and trigger on the C4s spearguns.

i have also wood
2 woods ( 2 self made 95 & 125 )
one aluminium 105
one carbon 120 ZULU RA

do you own a C4??

I do! :)
Not an easy gun. I understand it's a love it or hate it. There are many haters out there, but the lovers are true, enthusiastic, super hot horny sexually enslaved lovers.
My take on this issue is: they're very technical tools. You must:
1) first get used to it and learn how to get the best of it.
2) Use it for the purpose it was designed for. Don't expect that, just for the simple reason that it's expensive, it's got to be perfect for shooting any sort of fish in any sort of conditions. That's a wrong expectation.

It has been said about Rolex. Let me say about Ferrari.

You may drive a Ferrari (as well as a Mc Laren) and come out to think it's too loud, too low, too gasoline thirsty, too poor in optionals for the price, too much of anything or not enough of anything. But if you drive a Ferrari the right way on a fast road (not in downtown traffic, or not off road in the country, for example), she will make you a happy driver like no other car could ever. C4's are like that.

hola Joe & spago
i didnt say it is a bad gun at all ( all the C4 looks great)
i only dont think that a Urukay in 90 length is a good deal
as a matter of fact all normal guns are good in this length
of course you can buy a carbon or wood expansive one
this gun was designed larger in a purpose to longer shuts

my only opinion was that i ( me only ) prefer a thinner gun
& lighter in this length
i dont own one but i did a day dive check ( MR-C)
love the trigger Mech & also the fron clear view this gun gave

i guess you didnt understand my point of view its not about the gun good or
bad it is only an opinion in the 90 cm
i also advised someone not to buy a Cayman carbon 75 he can use
a normal one also

to everyone
wish U a marry cristmess
feliz navidad
& lots of fish:friday

Hi Mundial ,thanks for the clairfacation..

Here's a few examples were a hi powered 90 such as the urukay is would be the perfect gun

in central baja there are a few shallow reefs that hold grouper/snapper/cabria allot of these reefs have big bowls or dead ends , so divers flush the bigger fish in from the surface then come in and shoot the fish in the caves,

Or in southern California we hunt White Sea bass in the Red Tide , with viz less then 5':blackeye and these fish avg 40-50lbs

Cheers ... Joe *

Hi Spago, that was an interesting take on C4 guns in general... you may be on to something. :D

Joe, I can see you understood my point about the Urukay. Yours are great examples of when the smaller Urukays would be perfect.

Another advantage of a properly setup Urukay in the 90 and 105 size range is that you don't need to worry about head shots on large fish not penetrating completely.

The largest striper I've shot this season with my 105 was a 40 pounder. (Unfortunately it was not my fish as I was helping a friend land it with a second shot.) But at close range, the 8mm shaft went all the way through the thickest part of the head and came out the other side leaving the fish on the mono line.

On another instance, another close rance shot I placed on a smaller striper went in through it's head and out close to it's tail... a veritable fish kebob!

Cheers,
Claudio
