Didnt see anything in other posts sorry if this is repetitive but im planning on a trip to Cabo in April. I read threw a few threads about regulations and whats legal, but im wanting to bring my pole spear. I have the 6 foot JBL aluminum travel pole spear with a slip tip. Should i upgrade to carbon fiber? If so what brand do yall recommend?

Material choice depends mostly on what setup you're running. If you have a heavy traditional band gun then your main concern is mass to minimize recoil, wood fares better there since most carbon fiber guns are light (their advantage is cuttlefish shape and thin muzzle = better in-water tracking).

If you are running a double roller or multi-band invert roller then even aluminum is sufficient, and wood or carbon (ideally monocoque) as a choice comes down to preference and/or availability.

i have an AB biller 24 special im thinking about bringing and a JBL travel aluminum pole spear

Do you recommend any float lines or floats? Im looking at the Riffe torpedo pro but not sure what material float line i need

Also, if anyone has a map of the restricted areas that would be helpful. Not asking for spots just trying to find a legal place to possibly shore dive from or rent a kayak.

I don't have enough experience with different float lines as of now, as we land everything on reel here except some >200kg bluefins. Riffe Torpedo seem okay upon first glance
