Hey - anyone know of the properties / uses / density / characteristics of camillia wood ?

I think it is slow growing so will be quite a dense hardwood ???

JCB messed up the roots of one and I think it is beyond transplanting so was hoping to use the wood.

Very nice decorative close grained wood. Not often available as trees are rarely cut for sale. Used for inlays & paneling. Has to be seasoned well, normally air dried in preference to kiln dried. A traditional wood kept by master joiners & cabinet makers & used for that special piece. At least in Guernsey.

wasn;t this the wood used in Norman Sheild and such? somehting about it being very "Springy" ?
